SELL

“Selling a yacht is an exercise in gauging the market; where is the market active and for what type of yacht.”

You want another yacht. A different one, a bigger one, or something with a different function or capabilities. You want to step across to an Explorer type yachts, or maybe upgrade to a few feet longer. You have some great ideas that you want to include in a new build.

Whatever the reason, and unless you want to start your own charter fleet, it’s time to sell your yacht. Once again, the key to a successful sale is going to be experience and attention detail – and of course, that’s where Central Yacht step in.

How is it best to present the yacht? What special marketing techniques and tools can be used? Of greatest importance is presenting the yacht to potential buyers in a confident and knowledgeable way. No yacht broker has the wide range and practical experience of superyachts that Central Yacht have gained over years of operating all types of vessels.

When the yacht has been sold, then there will registrations to transfer and any amount of legal paperwork to attend to. Having sold six yachts* in the last few years, and most recently the spectacular 54m Sea Force One by Admiral Mariotti, Central Yacht’ s speciality is ‘keeping an ear to the dock’, especially where buyers and sellers in Asia are concerned.

CHARTER

“For many, chartering a yacht is the best way to literally get their feet wet in this amazing lifestyle.”

Ordering and building a yacht is a substantial undertaking, both financially and emotionally. Chartering is the best way to explore the superyacht world and Central Yacht have unmatched real experience to guide you through the selection process of yacht, destination and activities.

This is not just reassuring words: in 2009 Capt. Brackley and key members of Central Yacht managed and operated the award winning 60m charter yacht Xanadu – which he had also just built. At the first attempt Xanadu won the Robb Report’s highly desirable   “Best of the Best” award for a charter yacht above 60m. Over the years the team have spent months on the front line of charter yacht operations in the Mediterranean and Caribbean. They know what is what, and where is where. Practical experience is the key, and it is a hard-won commodity.

For the client, it’s all about attention to detail. Some of the variables that Central Yacht will assess are – the additional ‘toys’ and facilities on board, the style of cuisine available, the number of guests to be accommodated (of course!), crew nationality and languages spoken, and the start and finish locations of the charter.

On the other side of the equation, owners of yachts for charter can rest assured that everything handled by Central Yacht is being done at the highest level of professionalism, from charter contracts to provisioning. Chartering through Central Yacht is a guarantee of faultless service created out of long experience, giving you peace of mind from knowing that your yacht is being looked after better than you can do it yourself.

DESIGN

“It is hard to believe just how complicated it is to design and build a boat.”

Designing a yacht not just about looking good on the outside and choosing the right furnishings to create an ambience that suits your personal style.

First there’s the naval architecture to create a hull with the form and stability that is fit for purpose, and performs as required. Then there’s the engineering that puts everything in place from engines to elevators. Add in all the service systems – water, air conditioning, lighting and much, much more. Then the electrics and electronics – navigation, entertainment suites. And here’s the really difficult part – do it all invisibly.

The interior and exterior layouts are critical design features too, as they control guest and crew ‘flow’ through the yacht. Engineers need to access the engineering, the chef wants the the galley next to the pantry, and the stewardesses would like the crockery cupboard to be near the dining room, but not in it! And then you’ll need to decide whether the cocktail bar goes near the sundeck or the main lounge – maybe both?

Yacht design is an organic process that develops and grows as the yacht takes shape. The designer trims and cuts and shapes to accommodate new ideas and concepts, always maximising function and efficiency, and meeting the client’s aesthetic expectations at the same time. And at the very end it’s time to choose the colour of the upholstery and the shade of panelling on the walls.

At every stage of the design process Central Yacht is there: monitoring, contributing, integrating practical design solutions from the outset, and developing and improving ideas as the project progresses. Intimate knowledge of the entire process of creating a yacht and working on board is what sets Central Yacht apart in the field. Client input is both welcome and encouraged, but there’s always a need for someone to actually make it all work. Say hello to the designers, and say hello to Central Yacht.

BUILD

“Top end yachts don’t come off production lines: it’s a process that can easily last three years.”

Think ‘couture’ rather than ‘off the peg’. Some builders offer standard designs for hull and layout, but no yacht is ever the same as the next one: customisation and personalisation are part and parcel building a yacht. For many owners this is not merely a waiting period between order and delivery: it is an absorbing and integral part of yacht ownership, the practical realisation of a dream.

You can’t be there all the time, but Central Yacht can. As Owner’s Representative, Central Yacht is the full time liaison between owner and builder. It’s a job that demands in-depth knowledge of the build process, an understanding of engineering and design, and an appreciation of what can be changed – and what can’t.

From the laying down of the hull, through the creation of the superstructure, the fitting of the operating systems, and finally the creation of the gloriously bespoke interior, Central Yacht’s build management team will be on hand to monitor the builder’s interpretation of design and to take day-to-day responsibility for quality control. With nine prestige projects averaging over 60m length completed by the team, you know you are in truly experienced hands.

Allied with visits from the owner to review progress, this means that the creation of your yacht is monitored from start to finish, with the express aim of delivering on launching day exactly what the owner envisaged: the dream come true, and where building is a pleasure.

MANAGE

“Just like building, managing a yacht is a good deal more complicated than many anticipate.”

How much management does a yacht require? In short: a great deal. From scheduled maintenance to fuelling, crew management, flag regulations compliance and insurance (to name but a few items), yacht management is a full time job in its own right.

With years of seagoing experience behind them, the Central Yacht team knows that the way to get this right is to recognise that the people best able to understand the requirements of a yacht are actually those on board. Central Yacht staff are professional seamen in their own right: yacht management starts with the appointment of a suitably qualified captain, and a full support programme run from onshore.

Given todays complexities of both systems and regulations, shore based and even on-board trouble shooting from seasoned professionals is warranted. This has to come from management with relevant superyacht experience – the calibre of personnel that Central Yacht is able to access.

Good and proper management allows owners to enjoy their yacht without fuss or stress, and cruise (or explore) in the knowledge that everything is being taken care of. Technical support, repairs, provisioning, payroll administration, financial administration, safety and security code compliance, immigration and berthing – all under control by the most experienced team in the business: Central Yacht. That’s the way it should be.
